A little bit of success goes a long way. Especially for writers (and other artists). Writers face a lot of rejection–particularly now in the digital age, where people can and do comment on online pieces with thoughtless, ignorant, and sometimes just plain mean words. Flaming is prevalent in online forums. One of the things I appreciate about USA Today is that they require commenters to use their Facebook IDs to post comments on articles. This creates more accountability and civility.
But back to small victories. USA Today College did publish my article online on May 29th. And for a significant part of yesterday it even ranked amongst the 5 most popular posts. And this is a small victory for me. Small victories build confidence.
And so I shall go on to write another day and to pitch another article or two or three.
PS: another small baby steps victory occurs tomorrow–stay tuned!
Congrats on your victory! 🙂 It’s always lovely to see another writer share encouraging news such as this.
I am so proud of you, Jenn!
